Justin Timberlake: The 20/20 Experience and 2 of 2

I published this originally in april, but I thought I would do some updates and deliver it again, especially after hearing the follow up album called 2 of 2. Here it is again, Justin Timberlake’s 20/20 albums:

So I have Been Listening to Justin Timberlake’s New Album fo a couple of weeks and I have to say I love it! Now, Admittedly I am a big fan of his and I was pretty sure that I was going to enjoy it any way, but I was still pretty impressed. His timing of the release is perfect to make this album a great summer sound track. It is consistent for his style of music, and it has a great vintage quality to it. For this album of his it seems more adult, or “grown up” for lack of a better phrase. I have made the daring comparison before, but Timberlake’s music always strikes me as the new millenium’s Michael Jackson. And with that comparison JT should be flattered.

Leading up to the release of The 20/20 Experience Justin has done great job of self promotion. He has made appearances at the Super Bowl and the 2013 Grammys executing excellent performances of Suite and Tie with his “big band”. He performed both of his singles, Suite and Tie, and Mirror recently on Saturday Night Live as Musical Guest and Host. During that episode he entered the exclusive “5 timers Club”.

I have always enjoyed him on SNL, he has the wit and charisma to fit right in and usually outshine the other cast mates. Timberlake has successfully made himself into a triple threat. He is a great musician and writer, his status as a man about town is cemented, he will show up anywhere and every where as an icon of class and style, whether it be an SNL stint or at a Red carpet even. And in this bloggers opinion he has proved his acting chops as well. He’s been in a fair amount of film, I enjoyed “In Time“, and “Social Network” and I am looking forward to ‘Trouble with the Curve” . The album, The 20/20 Experience made its début at no. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. What made things even better is how well it did in sales; it sold, 968,000 copies in its first week. Not bad for a third album, this proves that the 32-year-old singer is still a favorite among many. Congratulations on another win, Justin, keep it up, and continue to be swell.

Edit October 2013; As a follow up to the very successful 20/20 experience, The 2 of 2 album was released last week. Let me say it is as dynamic as the first one, tending to be a little heavier on the hip-hop, but I like it just as much. The timing is perfect too, I have digested the 20/20 Experience and was ready for some more. If you get a chance check out the release Take Back the Night, it is a good one and will give you a feel for the rest of the album.
