This name may not be familiar to you, but you would recognise their music as soon as you watch the opening credit of She Sopranos. Their song “Exile on Coldharbor Lane” plays as Tony soprano drives through New Jersey. It’s a great song, and its the title track of their debut album, and they have plenty of other great songs chambered in their sonic pistols. Alabama 3 are not from Alabama, or even the States. They’re from Brixton, London, and there’s a few more than three of them.
They describe their sound as Sweet Pretty Country Acid House Music, a pop band, a punk rock, blues and country techno situationist crypto-Marxist-Leninist electro band. I’d say that is a pretty accurate description. That means more than likely the will be playing something somewhere that you will love, one of my favorites is called Jacqueline.
They got their start in 1996, with their first demo to Geffen records. With their advance from Geffen created brilliant situationist masterpiece called ‘Exile on Coldharbour Lane‘. Since then they’ve been touring the world over. According to their site they have got into a whole bunch of trouble and met a whole bunch of nice people, and make friends where ever they go. Take a listen, because as mixed and varied as their music style is, they are totally swell.
