The Vintage Inspired Triple Calendar falls right in line with the fantastic pieces in the Baume Mercier line up. They have, as of late been looking to their past for inspiration, and doing it quite well. I have already discussed the previous Clifton as well as the Capeland Flyback, both great classically inspired watches, and now the new Clifton Complete Calendar, which heavily references the 1950’s DNA. On the dial the Clifton Calendar displays the month, the day, and the phase of the moon in separate windows as well as the date pointed to by a center mounted hand. Speaking of the dial it is available in either a blue or silver/white finish with a wonderful sunburst pattern (my favorite finish). The blue, which I prefer has applied arabic numbers, where the white dial has gold applied, and a painted chapter ring around the outside of the dial display the date.
The Clifton Complete Calendar features a self winding Dubois-Depraz movement with a 42 hour power reserve, day, month, date, and a central seconds hand as well as a moon phase indicator. This is all housed in a simple and elegant stainless steel case with sandwiched between a sapphire crystal and sapphire exhibition case back. Baume et Mercier typically uses ebauche movements in their pieces, and this Dubois-Depraz is a robust complicated movement well suited for this watch. complimented with a rich padded alligator strap and deployant buckle, this watch is sure to look great for any occasion.
Excelling in its position as the most affordable brand in the Richemont lineup. Baume & Mercier has repeatedly been introducing winner after winner as of late, and this is no exception.Nothing in their line is dull or boring, everything they offer is handsome and classic, and at the price of under $5000.00 it is a great value in a luxury watch. As they release new pieces, I fully expect Baume Et Mercier to continue to be swell.
