There is a certain wonderment about being a dad. I have two young boys, and they are the greatest thing in my life. I am not young anymore, and my friends and I are constantly reminding each other of our age. We use reference points such as “do you remember such and such car, or tv show growing up?” It all dates us easily, but I don’t feel old. You see, I spend a quite a bit of time with these two young men in my house. You would think that the bottomless fountain of energy thy have would not allow me to keep up. On the contrary, my favorite place to be is on the floor with them.
As this year trudges on, I am looking forward to the blockbusters that are coming out in the latter part of the year, specifically the 23rd release of a James Bond film called Skyfall. I am a Bond fan, and I like Daniel Craig in the role, you can be sure I will be seeing this one right away.
I was searching on the internet the other day, stopping at my usual haunts and watch blogs. I was reading all of these great stories of watch histories and it struck me, where can I find the top watches that have really made a mark in history? I did a quick search and I didn’t find any satisfying list compiled, so I took it upon myself to do it.
Here it is; the first thing you’ll notice is that there are more than ten here. Well I took some liberties, and I can, because its my list. I wanted to choose pieces that made an impact, that was he first at something, or contributed something to its legend. I was going to eventually get to this particular review, but something came across my screen this morning that was too cool to ignore. Those of you that know me, know that I am a huge Omega fanatic, borderline obsessive. I am also a big James Bond fan. There are some cool things happening regarding both of those topics together which makes this post so incredibly fun for me (and hopefully you too). This Year James Bond is celebrating its 50th anniversary. That is 22 movies on the silver screen, 6 actors playing the Iconic Bond; and of course numerous great gadgets, cars, and watches. To Commemorate this, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios and Twentieth Century Fox are releasing all 22 of the films on Blu-ray in a big boxed set. Continue reading
